Today is the birthday of famous American inventor Thomas Edison, probably most popular for his invention of the first successful incandescent light bulb (there were previous tries, but Edison's made the cut compared to the others). Surprisingly, Edison was self-educated, meaning he didn't receive education from a teacher, or institution. Also, just a few other inventions of his are the motion picture camera, the phonograph (which developed into more modern designs, like the record player), fluoroscope, and he was of the founders of General Electric! If you think about, without Edison, the modern world would probably be very different. Furthermore, today as the 170th birthday of Thomas Edison, we should be celebrating how far Edison came into the world with his inventions.
